House Tour

Governors on Fitzroy is only three blocks from Sydney's famous Oxford Street, the heart of the gay area of town. We are a safe and easy walk to bars and venues, shops, antique centers, and restaurants. Sydney's efficient public transport system is easily accessible. You can easily get to all the harbour and ocean beaches from our house. Here is a map showing our location in Sydney including directions from the airport.

Our Bed and Breakfast Guesthouse was established in 1987 to provide travellers with a friendly home in Sydney. Our location in a cul-de-sac ensures a quiet, yet convenient sanctuary from the busy city of Sydney. Your hosts as well as their dog also live in the house, to provide you with that special combination of hospitality and convenience.

Over the years our return guests comment that the breakfast is one of the most enjoyable times spend here. A full cooked breakfast is served each morning, either in the dining room or the garden courtyard during the summer. Everyone sits together, it is a time to share experiences, ask questions, or find out what you can do in Sydney.

Built in 1863 as a Victorian residence, the house has been added to and modified to cater for modern living while retaining the charm of last century. The name is derived from our street which is named after Sir Charles Augustus Fitzroy, the Governor of NSW 1846-1855.

After a busy day of touring, shopping, or even business, it is nice to come home. Coffee and tea are available 24 hours a day in the guest lounge which includes a TV, DVD and VRC. Our garden area, off the guest lounge, offers a secluded spa area where you can relax and recharge before a nights entertainment. There is wireless intenet access available throughout the house.

Our five guest rooms have been individually decorated to provide comfortable and private accommodations. Three rooms have queen beds, one a queen and a single bed, and one with a double bed. Each room has its own vanity basin, and there are two share bathrooms.
